Big Smiles and Bright Futures: Inside YUM Preschool’s Joyful Graduation Day

There is a distinct kind of energy that only a room full of excited preschoolers can create. It’s a mix of pure joy, high-pitched giggles, and just a little bit of nervous anticipation. Recently, the Main Hall at YUM Cipanas transformed into a vibrant hub of celebration for the Pentas Seni dan Pelepasan Siswa PAUD YUM (YUM Preschool Arts Performance and Graduation).

This special day wasn’t just a simple wrap-up of the school year; it was a meaningful milestone marking the farewell of 20 wonderful students who have officially completed their preschool journey and are now stepping up to elementary school (SD). 

The celebration kicked off right outside the hall with a burst of color and rhythm. What made it truly grounded and special was the community involvement. Parents and fellow students eagerly joined in. The rhythmic movements and smiling faces instantly set a festive, inclusive tone for the rest of the morning.

Our Preschool Principal and YUM Cipanas Program Manager, Bapak Samsul Maarif, shared encouraging words for the little ones embarking on their new academic adventures. Following him, one of the mothers took the stage to speak on behalf of the graduating parents, sharing heartfelt gratitude for the growth, patience, and love the children experienced during their time at the center.

The Kids Take the Stage 

Of course, a YUM graduation wouldn't be complete without showcasing the incredible talents of our students. The stage practically came alive with energy as the performances rolled out. The emotional peak of the performances came from the graduating class themselves. Standing together, they formed a vocal group to sing "Setinggi Langit" (As High as the Sky) and the traditional sundanese farewell song, "Pileuleuyan." They didn't stop at singing, either—the kids picked up their musical instruments to play a beautiful angklung medley of "Pileuleuyan" and "Kasih Ibu." Hearing the gentle rattle of the angklung played by tiny hands was a moment everyone in the room held close. 

A Surprise Act and the Big Moment

The fun wasn't reserved just for the kids. In a wonderful show of solidarity and community spirit, the PAUD parents and YUM staff teamed up for a special surprise joint performance, proving that learning and celebrating at YUM is always a team effort.

Finally, each of the 20 graduates took to the stage for the formal reading of the graduation decree, proudly placing medals around their necks and handing them their hard-earned diplomas.

Moments like these carry a weight far beyond the songs, costumes, and proud applause. Early childhood education lays the very foundation upon which a lifelong love of learning is built, and this is especially true for children from low-income families, who often face the steepest climb toward equal opportunity. When a child's first experience with school is filled with warmth, encouragement, and the simple joy of discovery, it plants a seed that can grow into genuine curiosity and confidence in their own abilities.

For families who may not have had the chance to pursue higher education themselves, watching their child thrive in this nurturing environment can be a powerful spark, one that inspires them to dream bigger not just for their children, but sometimes for themselves as well. It is in these early years, more than any other, that the belief takes root: education is not a privilege reserved for some, but a journey every child deserves the chance to begin, and to continue for as long as their curiosity carries them.
