YUM's education projects are wide-ranging including scholarships, teacher training, vocational training and libraries. Children born into families, who for generations were resigned to a life of poverty, have little hope of breaking the cycle unless they have access to education. YUM believes that a holistic approach to education is key to developing young minds.

Community Libraries

Aceh, Central Kalimantan and West Java

YUM has established community libraries in areas where access to books is scarce. Our libraries encourage children and community members of all ages to enjoy the benefits of reading, and activities such as story-telling help to make education a pleasure, inspiring young and old to learn.

Sponsorship and Scholarship Programs

Central Kalimantan and West Java

The cost of education prohibits many Indonesian families from keeping their children in school. The consequences are obvious for not only the individual child but for the nation as a whole. YUM has three forms of child sponsorships; each designed to provide children from poor families with the opportunity to continue their formal education.

West Java

Designed to build the skill set of disadvantaged young people and encourage employability, the VTC offers practical industry courses including Sewing, Job Seeking, Advanced Hospitality, Compouters and English Language.
