YUM's School Sponsorship Project continues to deliver life-changing opportunities for many children throughout Jakarta, West Java and Central Kalimantan. With over 150 children aged between 6-16 years old being sponsored, YUM aims to help develop the intellectual capacity of Indonesia's future generations.
The Boxes of Books Project, which commenced in December 2009, has been greatly welcomed by the communities. Thanks to funding provided by the Japan National Council of Social Welfare (JNCSW), YUM is able to continue its impact on Central Kalimantan communities with the birth of a new project, The Integrated Literature Project, dedicated to improving the intellectual capacity of communities, whilst promoting a love for reading.
The Vocational Training Centre (VTC) opened its doors to over 200 children and young people of Cipanas and surrounding communities in August this year. Funded by MAST Industries, the VTC offers innovative classes that provide children and young people with an opportunity to improve work seeking related skills.
YUM's valued Education Projects in Central Kalimantan continue for a second year with further funding from Barclays Capital. As an extension of YUM's current projects which focus on improving education standards and students' intellectual capacity, YUM will establish a new Multipurpose Community Telecentre (MCT) as part of the existing Library Resource Center.
