Community Development -

YUM is pleased to announce that YUM’s Community Library in Cipanas has received further assistance from Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES). With the grant awarded by FES, YUM is able to continue to expand its reading collection.
YUM is developing the Library into a fun, creative and educational ‘hang out’ place for children and youths with its variety of programs including games, arts and craft, skill based activities such as creative writing, as well as group discussions.
With a booming number of visitors per month reaching up to an average of 1,000 visitors, the library management team is currently running and designing new programs that provide many more opportunities for visitors and the community, including women and mothers.
“This library is a huge benefit for the community! So many kids are now able to come and read books, something that is very new in this area. I, myself have enjoyed the library and all the positive activities i can do in it like read books, draw, watch educational movies.. The fact that the library also carries out many fun and creative activities have made the library very popular among the children and youths of Cipanas. I am glad to see that the library is always full with children and their noisy laughter!”
